Chapitre 17. La démotion des bobettes chanceuses (partie 2)
– Qu’est-ce que tu veux dire quand tu dis « qu’ils ont changé d’idée », Sam?
– Exactement ça! Qu’ils ont changé d’idée!
Ma mère ajoute (on vit chez elle depuis qu’on a vendu la maison) :
– Oui, ils ont changé d’idée, mais est-ce que tu veux dire qu’ils acceptent votre offre?– Ben oui… Exactement ça. Ils ont changé d’idée, donc ils acceptent notre offre. C’est une bonne nouvelle non?
C’est supposé être une bonne nouvelle. Mais je rage. NON MAIS! On a dépensé les derniers billets d’avion pour rien, on est revenu les mains vides parce qu’ils ont refusé de négocier et deux semaines plus tard, ils « changent d’idée ». Ils fait exprès ou quoi?!
– On fait quoi?, me demande Sam en me montrant toutes les dents de sa bouche tellement il sourit.
Ça m’a pris la nuit au complet pour me déchoquer. Je n’ai répondu que le lendemain matin au déjeuner.
– Bon, j’imagine qu’il faut re-magasiner des billets d’avion pour aller terminer l’inspection et faire un essai du bateau en mer, hein… Si on veut l’acheter, ce bateau parfait pour nous.
– OUI!!!!!!!!! Je checke pour nos billets drette là, me dit Sam en bondissant sur place.
– WOOOOOO minute papillon! TON billet Sam. On a dépensé déjà trop en transport. Cette fois, tu devras y aller seul.
– C’est vrai que ça fait cher de billets d’avion.
– Oui… Et les bons bateaux sont rares comme des étoiles filantes depuis les cinq ouragans de l’année passée. Tout le monde veut se racheter un bateau. Pas de temps à perdre, on va devoir prendre un billet peu importe le prix. Mais, juste un.

Le surlendemain, Sam s’apprêtait déjà à quitter pour revoir le bateau.
– As-tu ton passeport Sam?
– Ben oui, Cass.
– As-tu ta brosse à dent? Un carnet pour prendre des notes et ton chargeur pour pouvoir me téléphoner et nous donner des nouvelles?
– Oui. J’ai tout ça.
– Et euh…. As-tu une nouvelle paire de bobettes chanceuses…?
Un petit sourire en coin se dessine sur son visage.
– Oui…
Sam ne croit pas en Dieu, ne croit pas au karma, ni à la providence. Sam ne croit qu’en lui-même, en ces décisions et ces capacités.
Et en ses bobettes chanceuses. Espérons que cette paire-là va rester plus longtemps en poste que la précédente…
