Chapter 9. Ready For The Holidays!

Sam and I are on the boat, making a last time check up before the holidays.

-Are we ready for the trip?
-Yes we are.
-Did you bring all the grocery we planned, we don’t want to buy the dry goods when we’ll be on foot with the two kids?
-We’re good with tin cans, cereals, powdered milk for Matey, spices, etc, etc, etc.
-Do we have enough toilet paper???
-Yes we do.
-Do we have the high chairs for the kids, the cauldrons to cook, the lighter for the bbq, the…
-Yes, yes, yes and yes!
-Did you bring the books I got for Salty at the library?
-Yes, I packed all the 40 books you chose…
-Did you print the list of all the food we have and their location inside the boat?
-What do you think!
-We have the clothes for cold, rain, summer…
-Even for a tornado Cass.
-Ha. Ha. Ha.

-We have crafting activities for Salty, toys for Matey, board games for us, birthday things and gift for Matey?
-Yes. We have all that. But, no offense Cass, I know you thought of a lot of things… but, if we miss something, it won’t be that important. And we can get it along the way.

-Honnestly Cass, I think you thought of everything.

-Let’s hit the bed, we’re leaving early as we can tomorrow when the kids will wake up.

The first night of the holidays has been a nightmare. Don’t ask why, but Matey woke up almost every hours. I had, in the end, to pick him up and make him sleep in my arms. It ended up being a zero sleep night.

-Are we ready to leave….yawwnnnnnn…
-No. I need a coffee.
-Me too. Make mine super duper hyper big.
-Sam, is that the only bag of coffee we brought?
-Yep. It is.

-We won’t have enough coffee.
-I know! How could we not have planned for more coffee.
-Let’s start a list for the grocery with “Out Of”.
