Mexico City field trip – photo dump
Because I realized we collect GB of pictures without even looking at them, I’ve decided to dump some of them from time to time here, a better / easier way to share with you than on social medias.
For a bit of context, we had to park the boat in a marina and fly to Mexico city and pay a visit to the French Embassy for our long stay visa application for French Polynesia. We decided to stay in Mexico a tad longer, and make the most of our time there. We skipped school altogether, but Cass made extra efforts to bring context in few museums and archaeological sites we visited. On the menu for the unschooling : Aztec, Toltecs, Mayas, Olmecs, Conquistadores, Spanish invasion and the lack of respect towards autochtones, looking before crossing a street (yeah, it’s been a while that we’ve been dealing with busy streets), visit of the zoo of Mexico (there is so much you can do to keep a 5 years old kid interested in looking old pottery for so long :D) and discussing habitats, food chain, predators, making hypothesis about body features of the animals (“Why do you think the giraffe has such long eyelashes?”), discussing is it good or not to have animals in cages…
A field trip pretty FULL of everything. Including some fantastic food in nice restaurants, fabulous coffees we did not have since Québec and so on. The perfect trip to feel even more thankful toward Mexico for being our home country for the past 2 years.
